Thornton Hall Wedding Photography

I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Alex and Andy last year, their ceremony at the welcoming Moreton Church, Wirral followed by celebrations at the very popular Thornton Hall, Wirral. A very grey and blustery day faced us but luckily we dodged showers to grab family photographs after the service and some relaxed portraits at the hall. Alex and Andy had booked some fabulous vehicles, of which their favourite was the vintage style bus - transport for their beautiful bridesmaids but we couldn't pass up the opportunity to use it for some fun portraits - all lead by fun loving Alex!
Alex had also requested some 'copy cat' shots from her parents wedding, which too was held at Moreton Church but back in 1975. Alex sent me the digital shots and I duly tried my best to recreate those shots in location - see the results below!
I was also accompanied by one of my grooms from a summer wedding, a keen photographer, Dave joined in so as to gain some first hand wedding photography mayhem! In difficult shooting conditions and as a wedding newbie Dave did a sterling job - well done Dave!

New Year, New Wedding Venues!

After all the festivities it's time for some serious Wedding Planning!

Well so it seems for my 2012 brides and grooms to be as the emails and phone calls have come in a flurry this past week, and I'm just as keen to hear all about the excitement and wedding day details to come.

High on my list is the chance to shoot at some wonderful 'new to me' venues. Couples often ask nervously if I've photographed at their venue before and I'm sure it is a big consideration to many, hoping that your photographer knows where to go for those all important requested shots - the groups, family and individual portraits.
If I haven't been to a venue before all I can do is firmly reassure my couples that I will definitely be making an essential 'reccie' trip, camera in hand, ready to hunt out all those perfect places and backdrops for your photographs - and of course to find those not so perfect places to avoid is just as important to me!
Along with introducing myself to any available staff and often gathering inside information as to their preferred photo locations too, it's a great voyage of discovery and just like the reassurance of returning to some favourite wedding photography locations there is also nothing like a new venue to get my creativity going!

Llandudno Wedding Photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing Ellimay & Stephen's wedding ceremony at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Llandudno, followed by their reception in the brand new Menai Suite at the promenade facing St George's Hotel in Llandudno, North Wales.
The rain just held off at all the crucial moments thankfully. However the wind was a bit too breezy to have everyone wander over to the prom for the requested shots so we used the lovely side entrance steps on the hotel instead, and they accommodated the largest groups surprising well. The couple shots were taken from the balcony in their bridal suite.

Ellimay & Stephen booked 2 hours coverage and received well over 400 edited images, including black & whites, we managed to cram an awful lot in!

Chester Wedding Photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of my old school pal Ray to the lovely Lesley with their ceremony at the historic St Oswald's Church in Backford, Chester. Both with large families and lots of friends, it was a great occasion and with the onset of rain there was an opportunity for the requested group shots to be taken back inside this beautiful church.
The reception followed at the art deco inspired, 1955 built, Civic Hall in Ellesmere Port - a building very much from my childhood and a new photography venue for me. It's grandeur inside is still absolutely stunning after a refurb in 2002.
Ray & Lesley booked 5 hours photography coverage and received 490 photographs, including some black & whites.

Llandudno Wedding Photographer

Back in September I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Jon's friend Mike to the lovely Jenny, if ever there was a couple so in love then this is them!
The ceremony was at Llandudno Register office and for a very rare change there was heaps of spare time before the reception so we went off to climb to a local view point - and Jenny didn't hesitate in climbing over the five bar gate and climbing up the hill without even taking her heels off - Mike did assist on the way back down though! What a brilliant afternoon's work!
Jenny and Mike booked 2 1/2 hours coverage and received 252 photographs.

Earlier this month it was pleasure to take the opportunity to work with "Beauty Room by Kate" Evans who is "HD Brows Chester", as well as this amazing new eyebrow treatment Kate performs magic with hairstyling and make up for any special occasion - or I'm sure if you simply fancy a make over Kate would oblige - although she's mega busy, so you need to get that appointment booked early!
Kate wanted some professional portfolio images for her new website and for prints in her beauty treatment room. I took my daughter with me to model along with two of Kate's friends.

Wild Boar Tarporley Wedding Photography

In the summer I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding and celebrations of Tina & Steve at the gorgeous Wild Boar in Tarporley, Cheshire. It is an absolutely stunning building and the room that is used for the wedding ceremony is breath taking - and up the most quaint and narrow staircase - I can imagine it's a struggle for any bride with a cinderella style dress!

In the summer I had the pleasure of photography the wedding of Sarah & Rich in the secluded location of this wonderfully historic farmhouse in Erwood, Powys. It is far more beautiful and welcoming than their advertising website shows too, hopefully I did it some justice. Obviously what made the day were the celebrations of the lovely Sarah & Rich and their fab friends. Sarah had gone to such a great effort with so many beautiful details I was overwhelmed with what to photograph and when!

Back when the weather was much kinder than it is at the moment, I had the pleasure of photographing the nuptials and following celebration of Nia & Chris at Llandudno Registry Office and at their lovely home on the Great Orme which has some stunning views of Llandudno's North Shore and the Little Orme. Hen Party Photography - North Wales & Chester

I had the pleasure of shooting a surprise portrait session for this lovely bevy of beauties which was organised by one of the bridesmaids. The bride to be was a little taken a back when she realised what was planned but soon settled into the swing of things!
They were staying in a lovely cottage in farm grounds for a Hen Weekend and were dressed up in a Wild West/Prairie theme so we didn't have to go far for a back drops of open fields, the odd horse and a tractor too. And believe it or not it rained through most of the session!

The girls booked a two hour session and received 120 edited photographs within a week of the shoot.

Easter Sunday I had the pleasure of photographing Deborah & Daniel's wedding ceremony and receptions at the stunning and very stylish Abode Hotel in Chester's Walled City over looking its famous race course.
This was the hotel's first ceremony, but I don't think anyone would of guessed it! Everything went to plan and of course the weather was absolutely tremendous.

As part of their Orchard Project I had the pleasure to work with some school children from Mold, North Wales along side folk from the NWWT North Wales Wildlife Trust and Plas Derw demonstrating the art of apple pressing - the kids were so involved, it was lovely, and their reaction to tasting real cloudy apple juice was priceless.

Portrait Photography - North Wales & Chester

Really just wanted to see this one up a bit bigger than on the flickr page.
Debra was one of my students this past year at Llandrillo College where I've been teaching with in the Media Department. I hope my students enjoyed it as much as I did, I'll be back come september with a new class of unsuspecting volunteers.
I managed to convince them to pose for me in one of their last lessons.

This was simply taken with Debra facing a rather high window and obviously the focus point was her one visible eye, one of about 4 shots taken in total. Digital shot, nikon D300s, 30mm prime.

Wimbledon 2010 comes to an end with the Men's Singles Final today and wether the weather remains good enough for it to be watched from the purpose built viewing area (seen below) named "Murry's Mount", there's still lots of themed reminders for me to photograph including clothing and jewellry at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet.

A team of the girls from Airbus completed the Race for Life 5k course yesterday.

The Race for Life series is brilliant and I have participated in it myself, have a look at all the good that is done through it and if you've time read some of the stories behind the t-shirt dedications.

This shot summed it up for me yesterday, the emotion felt and the devotion to the cause.

Lots to catch up with from the last four weeks... In no particular order...

The HR ladies team raised to the Charity Challenge at Airbus with a fundraising lunchtime treat in the shape of a "street party", from the days when you knew your neighbours. Lots of lovely grub was served and the old time tunes played, but the real treat was the effort the girls had gone to with their outfits for the occasion - and raised over £250 for the British Legion to boot - WELL DONE GIRLS!

Absolutely thrilled with the results from Danielle & Fred's wedding last weekend - even if I do say so myself!

Danielle made for an outstanding bride and the camera loved her too. Presented nearly 700 images to the couple as I was pleased with so many. It was a truly happy and relaxed occasion.
My friend Jules took the second command and came up trumps with beautiful work - thank you Jules. Wedding work is sooooo much easier when you A. Have someone to second for you and B. You work together seamlessly as a team.
And how nice was it to work in the glorious sunshine? Wonderful day.
